Rule Number 7
Learn How to Care for Yourself
In learning how to care for yourself, I will begin by discussing healthcare in our nation. Afterward, I will talk about how to take care of yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually.
When discussing healthcare, we are talking about the health of an individual in society. Unfortunately, the Left wants you to believe that healthcare is about health insurance, which it is not. To anybody with common sense, the health of the nation is determined by the health of its individuals, which will affect their contribution to society and productivity. A personâs health is not affected on whether they have health insurance or not. Health insurance is exactly what it states; that is, insurance. For instance, life insurance is insurance that covers a person if they die so that money can be passed on to their family. Also, home insurance is insurance that covers the possibility that something goes wrong and there are needs for repairs. The same is true for car insurance where if there is an accident, expenses will be covered according to the policy.
There are many choices of types of policies people can have for life insurance, home insurance, and car insurance. These choices are made, depending on the familyâs individual situation and needs. There is no need to pretend that insurance for oneâs health should be any different. Depending on the personâs situation and their family needs, there are different types of insurances that they may wish to purchase. The government should not force that upon any individual or mandate it as was done with Obamacare where an individual is taxed for something he or she does not want but is forced to purchase.
Thinking that the health of individuals in this nation is tied to having insurance that only the government can provide is very dangerous, this ends up creating a system where a few people pay for services they do not need. Then, if the government is in control, as it has done with every business it has controlled, such as the DMV or postal service, the result is always higher cost, less efficiency, more incompetency, and more waste, fraud, and corruption.
So for those that actually care about individuals in this country, the goal should always be to keep the government out of healthcare as much as possible. At this point, it will be very difficult to get rid of Medicare and Medicaid. But I believe there are things we can do to help the remaining people in this country who need healthcare, which at the time of this writing is close to two hundred twenty million.
Before I give the solutions, I want to reemphasize what single-payer systems have done in the past and will do in the future. For single-payer systems to occur, the government has to lie to you as Obama did by telling you you can keep your doctor and you can keep your insurance and that your premiums will go down. Obviously this was a complete
